Miles Gardner

Miles Gardner is a Kershaw County native and a retired high school teacher of English and French. He has been a local and family history enthusiast for more than fifty years and, since retirement, has focused on research and writing about the people and events that shaped the history of Kershaw, Lancaster, and Chesterfield counties.

His first and second books in the Murder and Mayhem series came out in 2004 and 2006. His family lines have been in the area since the eighteenth century, and the joke is that he is related to every felon in the region’s history. If you are local, there is more than a good chance some of them are your relatives. For everyone, Mr. Gardner’s histories underscore the hardships and hard living of the not-so-distant past.
