Jason Mott is a National Book Award–winning novelist whose work blends Southern identity, memory, and the supernatural with sharp social insight. Best known for Hell of a Book, Mott explores race, grief, and the invisible burdens people carry, weaving the real and the surreal into stories that feel both intimate and mythic. His writing confronts America’s haunted past while searching for humanity, humor, and hope in the present.
