Kim Poovey is a bestselling author, storyteller, living historian, and longtime presenter on 19th-century fashion and Victorian mourning traditions. For more than 20 years, she has shared her knowledge of mourning customs, ornamental hairwork, ghost lore, and material culture with audiences throughout the Southeast.
Kim will share pieces from her personal collection of Victorian mourning jewelry, exploring the symbolism, craftsmanship, and deeply personal stories behind these fascinating objects of remembrance. She is also presenting a display of Victorian Mourning Jewelry at 2 pm at the Art Center.
