Robert Stewart
Robert Stewart served as Chief of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) from 1987 to 2007. As SLED Chief during the 1994 Susan Smith investigation, he helped lead one of the most complex and closely watched criminal investigations in South Carolina history, coordinating state and federal law enforcement efforts that culminated in Susan Smith’s confession. Following his retirement from SLED, Stewart entered private legal practice and has remained active in legal and public safety matters.
