Craig Dominey, The Moonlit Road

The Moonlit Road is a Southern storytelling project dedicated to preserving the folklore of the American South since 1997. Through its website and podcast, it shares ghost stories, legends, and front-porch tales rooted in real places and passed down through generations. Its companion audio drama, The Moonlit Road Podcast: Southern Ghost Stories and Folklore, invites listeners down dark backroads and into quiet country places, where a storyteller waits in the lamplight. Featuring recordings with real, touring storytellers and local musicians, each episode brings the South’s haunted, mysterious, and unique stories to life through immersive sound and voice.

Craig Dominey is the founder and producer of The Moonlit Road.  Previously a Southern culture writer for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and regional publications, Craig founded The Moonlit Road in 1997 to bring Southern stories to a growing online audience.  Craig also works as a location specialist for the film/TV industry, and manages the Georgia Film Office’s “Camera Ready” program, training communities on how to host film/TV productions.  Craig graduated from Wake Forest University in 1989 and lives in Atlanta, Georgia.

Appearing with Moonlit Road will be Educator and Storyteller Nancy Toulson:
Nancy Tolson has been telling tales as long as she has been able to talk. She completed her graduate work at the University of Iowa on Black folklore and Black children’s literature.  As a storyteller, Nancy tells tales throughout South Carolina. She is a regular at the (A)ugusta Baker’s Dozen Storytelling Festival (Columbia) and the Stone Soup Storytelling Festival (Woodruff) and performs at various festivals across the country. When not telling tales, Nancy is the director of undergraduate studies in the African American Studies Department at the University of South Carolina.
